Benefiting from Samsung Display's support forThe investment in Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) for Generation 8.6 Information Technology (IT) is expected to exceed $1 billion (approximately KRW 1.36 trillion) in sales by Japanese equipment company Canon Tokki this year.

Market research institutionsDSCC predicts that this year's investment in the display industry will make Canon Tokki the equipment company that will benefit the most, with its growth rate doubling from last year. Canon Tokki is a company that manufactures OLED evaporation machines. Evaporation plating is a process of converting organic matter into pixels, and the evaporator is an essential core equipment in OLED manufacturing.

CanonTokki will supply steam plating machines to Samsung Display's 8.6 generation IT OLED production line (A6) built in Zhongnan Yashan. The 8.6 generation (2290mm x 2620mm) refers to the size of glass motherboards, which is the first attempt of OLED technology in the global display industry.

CanonTokki supplies core equipment to Samsung Display and is expected to generate considerable revenue. Industry estimates suggest that the order amount for Canon Tokki is approximately 900 billion Korean won, approaching 1 trillion Korean won.

CanonTokki supplied the first of two semi cutting and evaporating equipment in March this year. Including related equipment and construction costs, it is expected that Canon Tokki's total revenue will exceed 1 trillion Korean won. Samsung Display plans to invest approximately 4 trillion Korean won in the 8.6 generation production line.

A display device industry insider stated:"Samsung Display will complete the initial investment of the equipment within this year and begin trial operation next year. It is expected that a second investment will be made soon."
